The Importance of Children in the Church

On April 8, 2023, the Broken Arrow Adventist Church held a baby dedication for three families of four beautiful children. Pastor Nathan Shires and Elder Mike Moon officiated the service. The Bible teaches us that children are a gift from God (Psalm 127:3-5). They are a blessing and a joy, and they should be raised in the knowledge and love of God (Ephesians 6:4). To celebrate God’s gifts, Nathan and Chrystal Davis presented Selah and Amos; Moses and Rachel Kalebaila presented Kayla; and Javier and Kameisha Viveros presented Amelia for dedication to God.

These precious children were prayed over and dedicated to their Savior Jesus Christ. "As we recognize the future of our church being in the hands of these children, we commit to praying for them and their family units. Our church recognizes the responsibility of the congregation to be the 'extended family' for these future leaders," says Carol Matthews, a long-time member of the Broken Arrow Church.

The Broken Arrow Church is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for children. The church offers a variety of programs and activities for children of all ages, including Sabbath School, clubs, and youth groups. The church members have a strong children's ministry team that is dedicated to helping children grow in their faith. Matthews reiterates that "We believe that children are the future of the church, and we are committed to investing in their lives. We pray that these children will grow up to be strong and faithful followers of Jesus Christ.”

How You Can Help There are many ways that you can help support the children in your local church. Here are a few ideas:

  • Pray for the children and their families by name.

  • Have a special dedication ceremony for each child in your church.

  • Volunteer in children's ministries.

  • Donate to your local children's ministry fund.

  • Simply be a friend and mentor to a child in your church.

Every act of kindness plants a seed in the hearts of the children. Be the seed that helps them fall in love with Jesus!
