Oklahoma Member Leads 132 Pakistanis To Baptism in One Week

Updated: Mar 22

Mission Report from Pakistan Highlights Rapid Growth and Deep Spiritual Hunger

Over the past week, the Lord has opened remarkable doors for ministry across Pakistan, resulting in both spiritual revival and a significant harvest of souls. Jack Stout, a member of the Oklahoma Conference Executive Committee, returned to Pakistan in March to share the hope of Jesus—and witnessed God move in extraordinary ways.

A Beginning Marked by Joy

The mission began in Kasur, where Stout visited a local brick kiln community. After a brief gospel message, 22 individuals stepped forward for baptism. Many of these families live under extremely difficult conditions, yet their response was filled with sincerity, courage, and joy. It was a powerful beginning to a week that would continue to unfold in unexpected ways.

Freedom and New Identity in Christ

The next day, ministry continued among families who had been freed from brick‑kiln slavery in recent years. After hearing a message of hope and identity in Christ, 50 more individuals were baptized. Many had been studying and preparing for this moment, and their testimonies reflected a deep desire to walk in their new life of faith.

Strengthening the Church in Okara

From there, the team traveled to Okara, where believers from 15 house churches gathered for a three‑day series of meetings. These groups represent individuals who have come into the Adventist message over the past several years. The meetings served to strengthen, unify, and encourage them in their walk with Christ. Their hunger for the Word was unmistakable—attendees listened intently, responded deeply, and expressed gratitude for the spiritual support.

Security Concerns—and God’s Providence

Following the final meeting, local authorities issued a warning of potential security concerns. For safety, the team temporarily relocated to Lahore. Yet by God’s providence, arrangements were made to return to Okara the very next day to complete unfinished work.

That return proved historic.

A Church Dedicated and a Harvest Gathered

A newly constructed church—built through the prayers, sacrifice, and faith of local believers—was officially dedicated to the Lord. Immediately after the dedication, a baptismal service was held for those who had been studying and preparing. Sixty more individuals were baptized, bringing the total for the trip to 132 souls.

Each baptism represents more than a number. It represents a life transformed, a family impacted, and a growing movement of faith in a region hungry for truth.

The Work Continues

The mission is not finished. Upcoming appointments include:

  • an elder ordination in Lahore

  • a men’s leadership gathering

Despite logistical challenges and security concerns, one truth stands out clearly: God is moving in Pakistan. When you’re on a mission, you learn quickly—expect your plans to change.

ADAPTING

For the second Sabbath of this trip, I was supposed to preach in Okara, so I prepared a sermon for that group. Then a few days ago, the plans changed—I was scheduled to preach in Faisalabad. So I adjusted the sermon.

Then the rain came, and that trip was canceled. So I revised it again.

Next, I was scheduled to speak in Lahore—in the same church where I had preached the previous Sabbath and where we had just baptized 50 souls. So once again, I reshaped the message to fit that moment.

I DIDN'T Recognize ANYONE!

But when I arrived, something was different. I didn’t recognize anyone.

I asked my translator, “Where are all the people from last week?”

She said, “This is the regular Sunday congregation. They heard you were preaching and came to listen. There wasn’t enough room for the others.”

In that moment, I knew—the message I had prepared wasn’t for this audience.

So I bowed my head and prayed, “Lord, what do You want me to say? I have five minutes.”

My translator leaned over and said, “Teach them the Sabbath.”

Five minutes later, I stood up—and the Lord had already changed the sermon.

Sometimes God changes the plan... because He has someone else in mind.
