Born on a quiet February morning in 1965 in the village of Darkhai, nestled in the hills of Tonzang Township, Northern Chin State, Myanmar, Panglianthlenga Chhakchhuak—known to many as Pastor Dr. P. L. Thlenga—entered the world as the fourth of nine children in a family rooted in faith and resilience.
Raised by his parents, Chalkapa Chhakchhuak and Pi Darrothluaii, he grew up surrounded by siblings whose lives would intertwine with his in ministry, family, and service. From an early age, Thlenga showed signs of spiritual sensitivity. At just eight years old, he experienced a personal encounter with Christ—a moment that planted seeds of faith, though the journey ahead would include detours and rediscovery.
As a young man, influenced by peers and the pull of the world, Thlenga drifted. But God had not forgotten him. A cousin, Vanlalruatl, invited him to attend Myangmya Adventist Seminary, and it was there that Thlenga’s heart was rekindled. He embraced the Sabbath truth, was baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and began a life of unwavering service.
A Ministry Rooted in Sacrifice and Vision
His first assignment took him to Khampat, a village in Myanmar’s Tamu District, where he served as both church pastor and school principal from 1989 to 1990. It was a humble beginning, but one that shaped his pastoral heart and leadership style—hands-on, compassionate, and deeply committed.
In 1990, he answered a call to Champhai, Mizoram, where he served as an evangelist. It was here that he met Vanlalruali, a woman of faith and strength. They were married on November 6, 1991, and together they built a home filled with love, purpose, and two sons: Judson Lalrawngbawla and Andrews Lalfakawma.
Thlenga’s ministry continued in Khawrhihn and later in Suangpuilawn, always marked by a passion for sharing the gospel and nurturing believers. In 1993, he pursued further education at Spicer Adventist University in Pune, India, earning degrees in Religion and Political Science—an academic journey that deepened his theological insight and broadened his capacity to serve.
A Legacy Honored Around the World
When Pastor Thlenga passed away on March 11, 2026, the global Adventist community mourned the loss of a faithful servant. His funeral became a powerful testimony to the reach of his ministry and the respect he had earned.
More than 40 Adventist leaders from around the world traveled to honor his life, including all the officers and many pastors from the Oklahoma Conference. Their presence spoke volumes—not only of his impact in Myanmar and India, but also of the bridges he built across cultures, continents, and generations.
A Life That Echoes Eternity
Throughout his life, Pastor Thlenga remained a faithful servant of God. Whether preaching in remote villages, mentoring young believers, or leading with quiet strength, he poured himself out for the gospel. His story is not just one of titles and timelines—it is a testimony of transformation, obedience, and enduring love for Christ.
From Myanmar to Mizoram, from seminary halls to village churches, Pastor Dr. P. L. Thlenga Chhakchhuak lived a life that echoed the words of Paul: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7)
His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the churches he helped build, and the family he cherished. And though his earthly journey has ended, his impact continues—like ripples in a river, reaching far beyond the places he walked.
