Cactusville VBS Brings Faith, Adventure, and Joy to Garnett, Oklahoma

The Garnett Seventh‑day Adventist Church lifted its praises high as children, families, and volunteers gathered for an unforgettable week of Vacation Bible School in Cactusville, a western‑themed adventure where Scripture came alive and young hearts were drawn closer to Jesus. With gratitude and joy, the church gives honor and glory to God for allowing this special week to unfold with such blessing.

Throughout the program, children stepped into a vibrant “frontier town” filled with color, creativity, and hands‑on learning. Cowboy hats, bandanas, hay bales, and themed backdrops transformed the church into a lively western village—setting the stage for lessons about courage, calling, and God’s purpose for each child. Every evening brought new discoveries as young participants explored Bible truths through storytelling, crafts, music, and interactive activities designed to help them understand that God has called them, loves them, and equips them for a life of faith.

A Week of Learning and Adventure

Children enjoyed meaningful teachings that connected Scripture to everyday life. Leaders guided them through stories of faith, helping them see how God works through ordinary people in extraordinary ways. Whether gathered around craft tables, singing together, or participating in group activities, the children experienced a sense of belonging and joy that made the week truly memorable.

The western theme added an extra layer of excitement. From “Wanted” posters to cowboy‑themed games, each detail helped create an immersive environment where kids could learn while having fun. Volunteers embraced the theme wholeheartedly, dressing in western attire and bringing energy and creativity to every station.

A Special Visit From Tulsa Fire Rescue

One of the most unforgettable moments of the week came when the Tulsa Fire Department arrived on site, bringing both excitement and valuable learning. Firefighters spent time teaching the children essential fire‑safety principles—how to respond in an emergency, the importance of smoke alarms, and ways to stay safe at home and in their community.

After the lesson, the firefighters treated the children to a joyful surprise: a full fire‑hose spray across the lawn. Laughter filled the air as kids ran through the cool mist, creating a moment of pure delight that perfectly captured the spirit of VBS—fun, fellowship, and community engagement. The visit not only strengthened the bond between the church and local first responders but also gave children a hands‑on experience they will remember for years.

Community, Fellowship, and God’s Presence

The Garnett church family rallied together to make Cactusville VBS a success. Parents, volunteers, and leaders worked side by side, demonstrating the strength of a church united in mission. Their dedication created a safe, welcoming space where children could grow spiritually and build friendships.

Moments of worship and prayer reminded everyone that the heart of VBS is not the decorations or activities—it is the presence of God moving among His people. Throughout the week, children learned that they are called by God, loved deeply, and invited to share His message with others.

A Celebration of Faith

As the week concluded, the church reflected on the blessings God poured out. The laughter of children, the commitment of volunteers, the joy of learning, and the special visit from local firefighters all testified to God’s goodness. Cactusville VBS in Garnett, Oklahoma, was more than an event—it was a spiritual milestone for the church and its families.

The Garnett Seventh‑day Adventist Church looks forward to continuing its mission of nurturing young disciples and creating spaces where children can encounter Jesus in meaningful and memorable ways. With hearts full of gratitude, the church celebrates a week of adventure, learning, and God’s abundant grace.
