Jerry Mayes
Lay Pastor
Jerry E. Mayes is a beloved figure in our community, having dedicated 46 years to ministry with unwavering passion and love. His journey began in Oklahoma, where he served for three years, and then joined Amazing Facts as their treasurer for five years. Jerry's leadership skills led him to Canada, where he managed Destiny Television for four years. He continued his pastoral work in Ionia, Michigan, and the Belgreen district. Returning to Canada, he served as the General Manager of It Is Written for three years. Jerry was then called to Arkansas to pastor the Clarksville and Russellville districts, followed by a role as interim pastor in Monroe, LA, where he also held evangelistic meetings. His pastoral journey continued in the Siloam Springs district and Springdale church, where he spent ten years building a new church and growing the congregation from 38 to 300 members. After retiring, Jerry volunteered to pastor the Jay church for five years and is currently pastoring the Vinita church, where he has been for about three years.
Jerry's transition to lay pastoring was inspired by his full-time pastoral experience before retirement. He was asked by Elder Moyer to temporarily cover the Jay church, which led to his continued service in ministry. His favorite foods are fruits and vegetables, and his faith journey is driven by his desire to see Jesus come soon and to bring as many souls as possible into the kingdom. In his free time, Jerry enjoys spending time with his family. The Bible verse that defines his ministry is John 3:16. Jerry and his wife are passionate about serving the Lord, sharing His message, and engaging in evangelism. With full support from the church, conference, and General Conference, Jerry would continue his dedicated service to ministry.
