Barry Smith

Pastor Barry Smith serves with a heart fully committed to God's calling in the communities of Altus, Elk City, and Weatherford, Oklahoma. Ministering since 2021, he has witnessed God's leading in his life in extraordinary ways. 

Barry's path to pastoral ministry is a powerful testament to God’s direction. While studying to enter a Physician’s Assistant program, he felt the Lord’s gentle guidance leading him in a different direction. Through a deep, personal encounter with God, where he heard the unmistakable call to "be a pastor," Barry laid down his own plans and chose to trust the Lord completely. That moment marked the turning point in his life, and he has never doubted the purpose God has set before him.

In his ministry, Pastor Smith is grounded in his faith journey, learning to lean on God in prayer, and trusting Him for direction, strength, and reassurance. Through every challenge and victory, he continues to experience God's faithfulness in tangible ways. Pastor Barry believes that only in Christ has he found true rest and peace—peace that fuels his passion for ministry.

When he’s not leading his district or investing in the lives of his congregation, Pastor Smith enjoys spending time with his family, staying active in outdoor activities, and nurturing his personal relationship with God through prayer. His love for reading, sports like tennis and racquetball, and simply appreciating the beauty of God's creation, brings balance to his life.

Pastor Smith's dream is to build a flourishing ministry in his district, one that includes establishing church schools, engaging college students at SWOSU in Weatherford, reaching out to military families at the Air Force base in Altus, and fostering community through sports teams in Elk City. His vision is to have vibrant, impactful ministries that touch every part of the community.

A devoted advocate of authentic fellowship, Pastor Barry believes that potlucks are not just about sharing food, but also about sharing testimonies—offering an opportunity for individuals to nourish each other with stories of God's grace.
