Weatherford Church Reopens With Joy Three Years After Fire

Three years after a devastating fire forced the Weatherford Seventh‑day Adventist Church to close its doors and undergo a full renovation, the congregation gathered with heartfelt joy for its first Sabbath School and worship services in the renewed space. The long‑awaited reopening marks a milestone not only for the Weatherford church family but also for the broader Oklahoma Conference community that has prayed, supported, and encouraged the journey toward restoration. An official grand opening is planned for October 17!

A spirit of gratitude filled the sanctuary as 18 members and guests attended the English service, while 11 participated in the Spanish service, reflecting the church’s growing multicultural ministry. Smiles, hugs, and testimonies flowed freely as members reunited in a space that now stands as a symbol of resilience, faith, and God’s sustaining grace.

Following worship, the congregation enjoyed a potluck fellowship meal— a simple but deeply meaningful celebration after years of displacement, planning, and rebuilding. The presence of David and Kathy Patrick, volunteer project managers from the Arlington, Washington area, was especially meaningful. This husband‑and‑wife team played a key role in guiding the renovation process, and the Weatherford church expressed appreciation “from the bottom of our hearts” for their dedication, leadership, and friendship throughout the recovery journey.

The Oklahoma Conference continues to champion local church revitalization, and Weatherford’s reopening stands as a testament to what can happen when faith, perseverance, and community come together. With renewed energy and a beautifully restored facility, the Weatherford church family is stepping forward in mission, ready to serve both English‑ and Spanish‑speaking neighbors with hope and hospitality. 

Most importantly, the renovations came in under budget. The church will be closed during the annual fall district retreat which will be held at Quartz Mountain State Park on October 3rd.
