Weatherford Adventist Church Set to Reopen September 19, 2026
Weatherford, Oklahoma — After nearly three years of restoration following a devastating attic fire, the Weatherford Adventist Church is preparing to reopen its doors on September 19, 2026.
The church was partially damaged by fire on September 23, 2023, leaving members facing the difficult task of remodeling not only the physical structure, but also a place that has served as a center of worship, fellowship, and community.
Leading the restoration and remodeling effort were David and Kathy Patrick of Arlington, Washington, who generously volunteered their time and expertise to oversee the extensive project. Church members expressed deep gratitude for their willingness to travel and serve throughout the restoration.
The project also became a remarkable example of members working together. Roscoe and Virginia Howard, along with other members and leaders of the Weatherford Hispanic congregation, volunteered alongside professional contractors to help bring the church back to life. Their combined efforts helped transform a difficult season of loss into a story of cooperation, perseverance, and renewal.
Inside the church, the sanctuary has received new carpeting, while the fellowship room has been substantially renovated with a new kitchen. Classrooms and bathrooms that sustained fire and water damage have also been rebuilt and restored.
Perhaps one of the most encouraging aspects of the project is that the restoration was completed under budget, demonstrating careful stewardship of the resources entrusted to the congregation.
After almost three years of waiting, working, praying, and rebuilding, the Weatherford Adventist Church is ready to welcome its congregation home. The September 19 reopening represents far more than the completion of a construction project—it marks a new beginning for a church family that has experienced loss, demonstrated faith, and worked together to rebuild.
The doors are opening again, and the Weatherford Adventist Church is ready for a new chapter.
