Tulsa Spanish PBE Shows the Power of Youth Ministry in the Home

At the Tulsa Spanish Seventh‑day Adventist Church, a remarkable story is unfolding through the ministry of Pathfinder Bible Experience. Each year, coach Betty welcomes young people from both the church and the community, forming a team committed to studying and memorizing Scripture. One of those Pathfinders is a girl whose family is not yet Adventist and has faced challenges that make attending church difficult. Yet, despite those barriers, God is working in their home in unexpected ways.

During a recent PBE practice, Betty was helping the girl review memory verses from Romans. When she asked, “According to Romans 1:1, what does this say?” the Pathfinder hesitated — unsure of the answer. Before she could respond, a voice came from the next room. Her father, who is not yet Adventist, called out the correct verse from memory. He had been listening to every practice session from a distance.

This was not the first sign of spiritual interest. Last year, when PBE season ended, the family asked Betty, “When does PBE start again? We can’t wait for our daughter to memorize the Word of God — and we want to be part of it too.” Though they have not yet stepped into the church building, the Word of God has already stepped into their home.

Through PBE, this family has found connection, relevance, and a growing love for Scripture. Their daughter’s involvement has become a bridge — drawing the entire household closer to Jesus, one verse at a time. The Tulsa Spanish Church believes, by faith, that God is gently leading them, and that through Pathfinders and PBE, they will continue falling in love with Jesus more each day.

This story is a reminder that discipleship often begins long before someone walks through the church doors. Sometimes it begins in a living room, with a Bible, a Pathfinder, and a parent listening from the next room — discovering the beauty of God’s Word for the very first time.
