spring cleanup and fellowship AT Wewoka Woods

Over two consecutive days this March, Wewoka Woods Adventist Center was blessed by the hands and hearts of volunteers who came not for recognition—but to serve.

On Friday, March 13, members of the Ardmore Seventh-day Adventist Church arrived with chainsaws and determination, cutting down hazardous trees and clearing debris that had accumulated over the winter months. Their work laid the foundation for a larger effort that followed.

Members from the Ardmore cut up the big tree falls at Camp Wewoka Woods.

Then on Sunday, March 22, a team of three Hispanic pastors and 20 volunteers from across the Oklahoma Conference gathered under the coordination of Pastor Luis Prieto, Hispanic Ministries Coordinator. From 10 AM to 5 PM, they cleaned the amphitheater, hauled branches, and removed downed logs across the entire camp—contributing more than 160 hours of combined labor, all freely given.

“When people show up with willing hearts and joyful spirits, it reminds us that this camp truly belongs to all of us,” said Camp Director Israel Mora.

The day was more than just work—it was fellowship. The Hispanic pastors shared that they had so much fun working together that they’re now considering launching an annual Hispanic Work-Bee at Wewoka Woods. Other churches are warmly invited to follow their example and schedule their own volunteer days.

As the summer season approaches, Wewoka Woods stands ready to welcome campers, guests, and families—thanks to the generosity of those who gave their time, tools, and teamwork.
