Honoring a Century of Faith, Community, and Local Church History
The Sand Springs Seventh‑day Adventist Church will mark a historic milestone on October 10, 2026, celebrating 100 years of proclaiming God’s love and serving the Sand Springs community. The centennial weekend will feature worship, music, fellowship, and storytelling—an opportunity for members, former members, and neighbors to reflect on a century of mission.
A Weekend Designed to Remember and Rejoice
The celebration begins Friday, October 9, with a light fellowship meal followed by vespers coordinated by the Francisco and Just families. Sabbath morning will include a special Sabbath School, followed by a worship service featuring a welcome from Pastor Jim Landelius and a message from Elder Stephen Brooks, Executive Secretary of the Southwestern Union Conference.
The afternoon will continue with lunch, music, scripture readings, and personal reflections—culminating in a supper social designed to bring generations together.
Why Preserving Local Church History Matters
Milestones like this remind us that a church is more than a building—it is a living archive of faith. Every decade adds layers of stories: baptisms, weddings, evangelistic meetings, youth ministries, community service, answered prayers, and the quiet faithfulness of members whose names may never appear in headlines but whose lives shaped the congregation.
Preserving these stories matters because:
Local church history strengthens identity. It helps members understand where they come from and what values have guided their community.
Intergenerational storytelling builds continuity. Young members gain a sense of belonging when they hear how God led previous generations.
Historical archives protect memories that might otherwise be lost—photos, bulletins, letters, testimonies, and early membership records.
Community heritage fosters mission. When a church remembers how it has served its town, it becomes more intentional about serving in the present.
For Sand Springs, the centennial is not only a celebration of the past but a recommitment to the future—continuing the legacy of proclaiming God’s love for the next 100 years.
