Lawton Lightening completed their first year of Pathfinders. The following is a recap of their year and the memories they made during this great time.
Pathfinder Sabbath: Our first year as a Pathfinder club has been fun. We had Pathfinder Investiture/Pathfinder Sabbath/Share Your Faith on May 27. The congregation was very involved in this service. Steven McCay read the scripture for the message, all took part in children's story, and our TLTs Bobby and Arianna McCay stood together as a team presenting Bobby's testimony. They also shared our Adventist Pioneer Heritage Teaching about some of the Adventist history they have learned during their studies as part of the Adventist Pioneer Heritage Honor. It is not easy getting up in front of so many even when you know your subject, but the Pathfinders did very well. They finished the presentation with a question and answer session which tested their knowledge even more! Thank you so much to all our church members for their support of our club. Thank you to Ms. Laura Hutchinson for presenting our Pathfinders with the honors that they have earned this year and for supporting us in our journey to be a part of Pathfinders.
Area Campout Recap: It is fun enjoying nature. Our Pathfinders spent the morning at our campout taking care of our injured pets. Prayers were prayed and answered with no injuries to any of those lending first aid to our three dogs. There are no pictures but let us just say that porcupines and dogs do not play well together. In the afternoon we took a field trip to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge where we toured the display at the visitor center and spent time at the Holy City of the Wichitas. We usually visit there once or twice a year as a church, but we had not been in so long that it felt like the first time we had visited. We saw longhorns, bison, and prairie dogs on the drive-through and planned a trip back sometime this fall to visit Mt. Scott and the Parallel Forest.
Church Involvement & Campout: It has been a fun month for the Lawton Lightning Pathfinder Club. On April 8 our church did things a little differently to bring the story of Jesus’s sacrifice to the congregation. We alternated reading passages from the Bible and hymns which reflected those readings. Our Pathfinders were asked to help in this, and all gladly accepted the opportunity to stand up and share their faith by reading from the Bible. It was a very moving church service, and we were happy to be asked to be a part of it. At the end of the month, our club wanted to get some much-needed fresh air. We spent Sabbath at church and enjoyed outdoors after coming back to tent. On Sunday, our third-year TLT Bobby was busy teaching the Red Alert Honor to Steven. Our first-year TLT Arianna prepared to paint some donated picture frames. We plan to have another campout next month to finish some Camping Skills honors. Enjoying God's beautiful creation is one of the best things about being a Pathfinder. Sharing your faith with those around you is an important thing about being a Pathfinder. Pathfinders often get to share their faith and enjoy the wonderful things God has made for us at the same time which is a blessing. We get to experience what many others rarely do. Our prayer as a club is that we can reach more people to invite them to enjoy this blessing with us.
