Guymon “Hornbills” Pathfinders Share Appreciation Across the Community

The Guymon “Hornbills” Pathfinder Club and Adventurers recently celebrated 2026 Global Youth Day with a community outreach initiative that brought joy to both participants and local service workers. After the worship service, the group visited five community service locations: the Guymon Fire Department, THE RIDE public transportation service, the Guymon Police Department, the Texas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Meals on Wheels/Senior Citizens Center.

Pathfinder Director Amy Ward, inspired by Pastor Mungtong, organized the collection of snacks and water to create appreciation baskets for each location. The Pathfinders assembled the baskets, and five cards—signed by the entire congregation—were delivered along with fruit sacks and water bottles. At every stop, the group was warmly welcomed and thanked for their thoughtfulness.

Music played a meaningful role throughout the day. Pastor Mungtong accompanied the group on guitar as they sang “He’s Able” in English, Zomi, and Spanish, reflecting the cultural diversity of the Guymon church family. Ms. Ward shared the purpose of the visit, and a prayer of blessing was offered for the workers at each location. When possible, group photos were taken to commemorate the experience.

The Fire Department offered an engaging tour, allowing the children to explore various firetrucks and learn about their uses. At THE RIDE, volunteers showed the group inside one of the buses and expressed gratitude for the recognition. The visit to the Guymon Police Department included a tour of the former Army barracks facility, where the children especially enjoyed stepping inside the old, unused jail cell. The Sheriff’s Office, though staffed by only one person at the time, received the group with appreciation. The final stop at Meals on Wheels provided insight into the vital work of preparing and delivering meals to seniors and shut‑ins, supported by dedicated volunteers.

The day proved deeply rewarding. As the Pathfinders expressed appreciation to community servants, they in turn received encouragement and heartfelt thanks. The experience served as a reminder that when we engage in service for God, the blessings flow in both directions.
