Guymon Hornbills Go Can Collecting

We arrived at the church/school at 4:00 p.m. and left at 4:20 p.m., bringing extra plastic bags to collect cans. We started by heading around Emma’s neighborhood, splitting up into boys and girls. The boys were Lianpu, Muanlian, and Sangbawi, and the girls were Siamno and Siamnu. Our first stop was Emma’s house, where we called for help, and they joined us shortly after.

There were plenty of interesting moments along the way. At one point, Lianpu was surprised by a chubby corgi that jumped on him. On another occasion, we encountered some generous people who gave us a full bag of cans, mixed with other goods. It was heartwarming to see how those who had once been in need were now sharing what they no longer needed. One man didn’t have any cans to give, but he offered us kids some snacks instead.

Not everyone was able to help, though. We met an elderly woman who was feeling unwell, so she couldn’t give us any cans. We wished her well and hoped she’d feel better soon. In the end, we had gathered a table full of cans and other items, and by 5:45 p.m., we were done. It had been a fun experience, and when we took everything to Loaves & Fishes, it filled an entire grocery cart. by :: Emma, Lianpu, & Siamno
