First Field trip of the year

Updated: Jul 25, 2023

As school begins each year, the first field trip is always highly anticipated. Students at Pioneer Adventist Christian School in Guymon visited the Helms Garden Shop. As the workers talked with the students about the different plants, they instructed the students to touch the plants and then smell their hands. The students had a lot of fun smelling the leaves of the different plants and flowers.

It doesn’t rain a lot in Western Oklahoma, so the plants there are uniquely designed by our Creator to survive with very little to drink. The students learned about plants like bluestem grasses that thrive on small amounts of water. After going through the garden shop the students selected three plants to buy and plant at their school. They had fun digging the holes and putting in their new plants that now beautify the flower beds.
