Backpack Giveaway Brings Community Together in Haskell

HASKELL, Okla. — Under the shade of the trees at Thunderbird Park, the All Nations Seventh‑day Adventist Church hosted a successful backpack giveaway on Aug. 2, serving more than 20 families and distributing over 50 backpacks filled with school supplies. Despite temperatures reaching 84 degrees, the event remained comfortable and welcoming for attendees.

In addition to backpacks, volunteers provided hamburgers, hot dogs and picnic‑style foods, creating a relaxed atmosphere where families could gather, talk and enjoy the afternoon.

One woman shared that she had been searching for a church home and planned to attend the congregation’s Thursday prayer meeting. She also expressed interest in visiting on Sunday, and when gently informed that the church worships on Saturdays, she replied that the schedule worked even better for her.

The event drew strong community engagement and several guests offered to help with future outreach efforts. Church leaders described the day as a blessing and a meaningful opportunity to connect with local families.
