Monique Monroe has accepted the position of Community Service Director for the Oklahoma Conference! Monique brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for community service, making her an invaluable addition to our team.
Monique is a self-employed Massage Therapist and a third-generation Community Services volunteer. Her dedication to serving others has been evident throughout her life, having held various roles such as Director in churches she has been a member of, Disaster Response volunteer and Director, and Area Coordinator for Dallas County and Collin County in Texas. Her unique approach to disaster response includes using her skills in massage therapy to provide care and relief to responders and survivors through her work with Victim Relief Ministries.
From a young age, Monique has been actively involved in community service, inspired by her grandparents and parents. She has responded to disasters across New York, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas, feeling a divine calling to this work. Her happiest moments are when she is organizing supplies, praying with those in need, and listening to their stories as they rebuild their lives.
Monique's extensive training in Critical Incident Stress Management equips her to support both responders and survivors in managing the stress of disaster situations. Her compassionate approach and dedication to touching lives as Jesus did are central to her mission.
Outside of her professional and volunteer work, Monique enjoys reading, crocheting, gardening, camping, hiking, and continuous learning. She is a devoted wife to Terry, mother of four children, and grandmother to nine grandchildren. Her family is a significant source of support and inspiration in her life.
Monique's vision for her new role includes providing training for volunteers, empowering churches to engage more deeply with their communities, and establishing essential services such as food pantries, clothing centers, and basic skills classes. Her lifelong training and leadership roles in various church ministries have prepared her well for this position.
Monique credits her mentors, including her grandparents Jon and Olivia Parker, her parents Neithola Parker and Bob Turner, and trainers Joe and Sherri Watts, Lavida Whitson, and Judi Bentz Eells, for shaping her commitment to community service. Their guidance has been instrumental in her journey, and she is eager to continue their legacy in her new role.
